Beginning in March, accountants using QuickBooks Online Accountant will get upgraded from the Plus plan to the QuickBooks online advanced plans they can manage their firms better. What grade is automatic and free with Intuit promising no loss of data or functionality.
The upgrade adds features and functionality and couldn’t come at a better time. As COVID-19 continues to create rough waters for firms and businesses to navigate through, Quickbooks aims to help businesses make it through by offering these advanced features to all customers for free.
Quickbooks Online Advanced is meant to help accountants grow their firms through better process management. It’s designed to help bookkeeping professionals work smarter with deeper insights. It includes enhanced custom fields and custom charts and visualizations to make it easier to see what’s going on.
Advanced works faster than plus, and brings new features like defining and automating specific tasks and workflows, batch transactions, and integrates with Google Sheets. Soon, it will also include the option to create custom roles for team members.
The upgrade should help businesses get more information about business performance, and help accountants provide the same for their clients.
QuickBooks Online Plus is an ideal choice for small companies that don’t require more than five user licenses. The set of tools cover basic and many not-so-basic accounting needs for most organizations. With Online Plus, you can easily:
- Create a chart of accounts that categorizes and views expenses in line with IRS Form 990
- Draft reports showing contributions by grants and individual donors
- Plan budgets based on fundraising and expense data
- Use business planning and analysis tools, like the Statement of Financial Income & Expense
- Organize critical financial information while allowing an accountant to work on the software simultaneously
Quickbooks Online Advanced Features
If you have a larger organization or deal with more complex accounting news, you’ll appreciate the free upgrade to the QBO Advanced version.
The Smart Reporting tool, powered by Fathom, allows importing data into the program from a Quickbooks Online chart of accounts that contains up to 3,000 accounts.
Custom Fields
With the Custom Fields feature accountants can track and analyze unique Dada at any level of granularity. The software supports 48 custom fields with up to 12 fields available for each vendor, customer, sales forms, purchase order, and other expenses.
Users can sort, filter, group by, and display information and columns of fields in three reports. They can create a custom contact list, a vendor contact list, and unpaid bills report.
Custom Chart Builder
It says the custom guitar Builder feature has been highly requested by accountants.
The Custom Chart Builder allows users to create a custom key performance indicator (KPI) dashboard for their clients, which allows them to increase their advisory services.
With the custom parts, clients can make better-informed business decisions with at a glance data provided on key business metrics.Users are also able to set up a comparison while creating a custom chart so they can compare key data against the same period in the previous year.
Preset charts are also included which give you the ability to view business performance over the fiscal year under the time period option.
Performance Center
The performance center feature allows accountants to track their business performance and gain insights using customizable presentation-ready reports.
Whether you want to get a closer look at your invoicing volume, your cash flow, or something else, you’ll be able to get more detail here.
Custom Roles Expansion
Custom roles expansion is a planned feature that allows accountants to customize user access to ensure that only the right people have access to the right information.
Using it, accountants can get even more granular with their preset rolls to use and expand upon them as needed. Customers on this plan can create custom roles for all 25 user accounts available on the plan.
If you want to learn more about QuickBooks online advanced, Intuit is offering training sessions and webinars. These self-paced learning modules and training webinars are available through your Quickbooks account.
After logging into your account, visit the Proadvisor tab and select the training options. You’ll find the QuickBooks Online Advanced Specialty option under the training tab. The plan includes fie online credits so you can train your entire team.
Regardless of which version of Quickbooks Online you use, PLANERGY offers an integration to make things easier on your team. With automation and workflows, your entire purchase to pay process can be shortened dramatically, allowing your team to focus on more important value-added tasks.
The free upgrade offer does not apply to Quickbooks Desktop users, who aren’t using the same thing as the online platform. Contrary to what the name suggests, Quickbooks Online isn’t just a cloud-based or web-based version of the Desktop software, which is available for both Windows and Mac computer systems.
The Online version has a mobile app that can be used on iPad and Android devices. The online version provides a streamlined user interface, with the ability to access files from anywhere there is an internet connection, much the same way PLANERGY software works.
The online version makes it easy to reconcile your bank statements with your general ledger as the bank transactions can be imported as they occur, by linking your bank account. It also makes it easy to track business expenses and provides the option to pay bills electronically.
The desktop version can be divided into three areas: the vendor center, the customer center, and the inventory module. This makes it easy to manage all of your vendor activity, all the way from the initial vendor entry through to a list of all the current bills by vendor.
You’ll be able to use the bill tracker to keep track of all current bills and due dates, and have the option to pay your bills by bank transfer or credit card. Your customer center lets you manage all of your customers, create invoices and statements, and process sales orders and receipts.
The inventory module makes it easy to keep track of all your products, stock units, and more. There’s a Quickbooks Payments and PayPal integration that makes it easy for you to take credit card payments from your customers.
You’ll be able to get all the features you need for your double-entry accounting with either platform, but the online version offers more flexibility for most businesses. It comes down to what plan you use online and what version of the desktop software you purchase.
The more expensive options, like Quickbooks Desktop Enterprise, will always include more features – whether it’s desktop or online.
Your current pricing plan will not change. Your small business will get more out of your current accounting software, without the hassle of paying for an upgrade. If you’ve been considering a Quickbooks Online subscription, now is the time to get started.
If you are a QuickBooks self-employed plan member, this free upgrade offer does not apply, as those accounts are not designed to handle more than one user or address time tracking and Quickbooks Online payroll is not included.
If you have questions or concerns, you can always contact Quickbooks customer support to learn more.
